Welcome to my website.

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Brian Jones and I live in Canberra Australia.

I am continually fascinated by the world around me, which is reflected in my diverse and ever-changing photographic interests. These include travel, nature, people, sport, photojournalism, abstract and architecture.  I have a Graduate Diploma in Visual Art (Photography and Media Arts) from ANU School of Art.

I have won around 400 awards in international photographic competitions, including:

  • nineteen winner awards, seven runner up, three third place and many Honourable Mentions in various categories of the annual Pollux Awards;
  • winner and two third places in the Black and White Spider Awards;
  • second and a third place in the International Color Awards;
  • thirteen images and a portfolio short-listed in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards.

I have had two shared solo exhibitions: ANU Graduate Exhibition (A glass half full: portraits of an age ), March 2009; and Bowerbird Central at Hugh Davies Gallery, June 2012; and also exhibited at the 3rd International Biennial of Fine Art and Documentary Photography, in Malaga, Spain, 2014, the 4th Biennial in Berlin 2016, the 5th Biennial in Barcelona 2018 and in Barcelona at Valid Foto Gallery in 2017 and FotoNostrum Gallery in 2019.  My photos from these exhibitions are displayed in the Galleries.  I have also participated in two curated exhibitions at the Canberra Museum and Gallery and over twenty group exhibitions.

I am a member of the Canberra Photographic Society (CPS), including President 2010-12 and have won numerous CPS awards, including: Photographer of the Year 2013 and 2019: five Image of the Year awards; the Hedda Morrison Print Portfolio Award, 2011; the Projected Image Portfolio Award, 2018 as well as many Highly Commended Awards in these annual competitions.
